Aston Medical School (AMS) is located in the centre of Birmingham and houses the University-wide Aston Medical Research Institute (AMRI). The schools overarching vision is to be internationally recognised for excellence and distinctiveness research to deliver scientific discoveries in Translational Medicine. The core themes of the AMRI are focused on Women's Health, Cardiovascular Health, Mental Health and Regenerative Medicine. The institute provides an excellent training and multi-disciplinary environment for translational research that transforms lives, addresses local health challenges with global impact.
AMS is seeking applications from qualified candidates with expertise in the embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to join the new Regenerative Medical Centre. The research remit of this Centre focuses on cell therapy research with clinic application. Candidates with a strong background in cell, molecular biology, pharmacology, medicine are encouraged to apply.
The selected candidates will be responsible for conducting research and advancing specific programs in coordination with the AMRI and AMS strategy. The ideal candidates will be expected to be self-motivated, to work independently and work well in a multi-disciplinary environment.
The post-holder must possess an advanced degree (PhD in Stem Cell, Molecular Biology, Biomedicine or other relevant subjects). The post-holder will demonstrate academic leadership through a track record of high quality research, ideally in regenerative medicine, stem cell and gene therapy.
