Detail information about job Research Associate - Polymer Chemistry. Terms and conditions vacancy
Interview Date: To be confirmed
Applications are invited for a 12 month post-doctoral position to investigate electroactive polymer-based biomaterials, funded by the EPSRC. You will be based in the group of Dr John G. Hardy in the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science Institute. This position will involve collaboration with research groups in the Department of Biomedical and Life Sciences and our industrial partners.
The position offers an opportunity for a researcher to directly impact the development of degradable electronics for technical and medical applications, and how their properties may influence their interactions with the body and therefore their biocompatibility. The project will use a variety of synthetic and analytical techniques (e.g. spectroscopy, microscopy).
Lancaster University is consistently highly ranked and is located on a beautiful campus in the North West of England close to the stunning Lake District National Park which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
You should have practical expertise in synthetic chemistry (and ideally materials chemistry), and broad experience in the use of spectroscopic and microscopic techniques to study chemicals, and should have, or expect to receive shortly, a PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline. The ability to work within a team and to support other researchers is essential to this post.
We are committed to family-friendly and flexible working policies on an individual basis, as well as the Athena SWAN Charter, which recognises and celebrates good employment practice undertaken to address equality issues in higher education and research, and we warmly applications from people in all diversity groups.
For candidates invited to interview, the Department of Chemistry and Materials Science Institute will provide childcare by a registered childminder in Lancaster by prior arrangement, if required.
We particularly welcome applications from men and black and minority ethnic people for this role in order to increase our staff diversity in this part of the University.
