Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for a Lectureship in Psychology in research methods and methodology. The successful candidate will play a part in developing the School of Psychology's vision to be the defining Applied School of Psychology for Australasia and the South Pacific that makes a difference in individual and collective lives. The appointee will have an interest in and expertise suitable for teaching undergraduate and postgraduate courses in psychological research methods and methodology. He or she will be skilled in both quantitative and qualitative methods, and be able to demonstrate imagination and expertise in the use of a wide range of research methods and in applying these to make a difference in individual and collective lives. Knowledge and ability to teach and use software packages for data analysis are central. The successful applicant should demonstrate the ability to contribute to a team research and teaching environment where research is applied to address important issues facing individuals and society. A sound understanding of the philosophy of science and how it relates to knowledge production in psychology would be an advantage and knowledge of mixed methods, and/or experience in evaluations would be an asset.

The appointee will have a commitment to developing a research programme that is compatible with the research strengths of the School and manageable within the resources available, as well as having the potential to attract external funding. It is strongly advised that applicants familiarize themselves with the School by examining its online profile. Applicants should be aware that teaching in the School importantly includes both online and face to face delivery modes.

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in Psychology, and experience in tertiary teaching, research and publication would be an advantage. The appointee will be expected to teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to supervise Honours projects, Masters theses and Doctorates.

Collaborative teaching and research on School of Psychology programmes offered across our campuses will be a priority. Staff may be required by the Head of School to teach for short periods on any campus of the University.

The School offers degree programmes to doctoral level in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences and in the College of Science. BA students can major in Psychology, Business Psychology or Educational Psychology and a four-year BA/BBS is also offered.

It is expected that this position will be available from 2018. Appointment will be on the Lecturer scale at a competitive level relative to qualifications and experience. An outstanding application may be considered for appointment at Senior Lecturer level - location for appointment is flexible to either our Turitea or Albany campus.
