Detail information about job MPhil/PhD Scholarship: Prognostics for Asset Management of Energy Systems. Terms and conditions vacancy

Description:

The research will investigate, develop, and apply prognostics methodologies to support asset management of energy systems. Prognostics is a discipline that aims to predict the time at which a system or component will no longer function. It may combine data from sensors with data analytics and physics-based modelling software tools. This PhD will investigate the role that prognostics can play in transitioning towards a smart energy system infrastructure (both on and off-shore) that is sustainable, reliable, and resilient to change.

This scholarship will be a part of the Doctoral Training Alliance (DTA) in Energy. This DTA is supported by the University of Greenwich as part of its membership of the University Alliance Doctoral Training Alliances (DTA’s) in Energy, www.unialliance.ac.uk/DTA. The studentship will be based within the Computational Mechanics and Reliability research group at Greenwich. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with colleagues at Heriot-Watt University and others within the University Alliance DTA (Energy).

Successful candidate should have and Honours Degree at 2:1 or above (or equivalent) in a physical sciences subject and have a strong interest in data analytics, mathematical modelling, and computer programming. Candidates must have experience in using statistical and mathematical techniques for data analysis and problem solving. Software skills in a scientific computing language such as C, Fortran, etc, is essential.
