Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Tissue Engineering. Terms and conditions vacancy
We are seeking a full-time postdoctoral research assistant to join the Technology Centre in the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (Headington) in the Department of Engineering Science that is directed by Professors Zhanfeng Cui and Cathy Ye. The post is funded by China Regenerative Medicine International (CRMI) and is fixed-term for 12 months in the first instance.
On-going projects in the Technology Centre are using an engineering approach to develop technologies that will facilitate stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine. You will join the Bio-intelligent Biomaterials group led by Dr Julian Dye to work on the development and translation of manufacture methodology for pro-angiogenic regenerative scaffolds. Work will include development of cost effective scalable manufacture using casting-based approaches, in situ or micro-manufacture methods and additive manufacture/3D printed methods. Other aspects of the work will be the biological evaluation of scaffold functionality and material characterisation.
You will possess a PhD/DPhil (or be near completion) in biochemistry or a relevant field with knowledge of cell biology, tissue engineering and biomaterials science and research experience in a relevant field. You should have knowledge of and demonstrable experience of good general biochemical laboratory skills, sterile technique and cell culture. Experience of working with ECM components; quantitative cellular assays and assays relevant to angiogenesis; and biomaterial characterisation expertise would be an advantage.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Dr Julian Dye, email: [email protected].
As part of your online application, you will be required to upload your CV, the details of two referees and a covering letter/supporting statement that describes how your past experience fits with the advertised position and demonstrates experience of working both independently and as part of a team.
Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 18 September 2017 can be considered.
The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
