The Primary Medical Care Group is a member of the NIHR School for Primary Care Research, a national collaboration between the nine departments that performed best in the 2013 REF, that provides major opportunities for additional networking, training, funding for both small and larger research projects, and extensive multicentre collaborations.
This post provides an excellent opportunity for a GP who is vocationally trained for general practice and has completed, or almost completed, a research MD or PhD, to spend 48 months full-time (or 72 months part-time), conducting research for at least half of their working week, combined with clinical practice for the remainder.
We are looking for a track record in peer-reviewed publications and grant funding, ideally including a previous doctoral training fellowship. You will be expected to continue to publish and to apply for grants, including a postdoctoral fellowship or career scientist award, during the appointment.
You will be helped to arrange a placement in a local general practice for the clinical component of the post.
Please note, a satisfactory DBS disclosure at Enhanced level is required for this post.
