A postdoctoral Research Associate position is available for an outstanding and ambitious individual to undertake computational research on the ‘leaping shampoo’ (Kaye) effect using the numerical method Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH). This project will use SPH to study and isolate key physics in the Kaye effect (e.g. elasticity, surfactant, air layer effects) in the hope of fully understanding the origin of the observed leaping liquid strands.
You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent in mathematics, physics, or engineering, specialising in computational fluid dynamics or a closely related discipline. Expertise in developing numerical methods and code for research in fluid/continuum mechanics is essential. You should be capable of working under your own initiative.
