Detail information about job Broadcast Engineer. Terms and conditions vacancy

MediaCityUK is a vibrant place in which to live, work, socialise and study. Home to major BBC and ITV departments, the University of Salford and over 80 businesses across the creative and digital sectors, MediaCityUK is recognised as one of the most innovative developments in Britain.

The facility is split into two key areas. The ground floor is a commercial/public space designed to run events, conferences, exhibitions etc. and to showcase the University’s work, as well as offering leading edge facilities to other organisations. The second and third floors are designed for high end teaching and research with state of the art facilities. The space is open plan in nature and designed to encourage cross functional working and knowledge sharing whilst allowing full access to industry in an immersive and dynamic manner.

The primary purpose of the Broadcast Engineer is to maintain and manage the University’s Broadcast Production hardware and its asset management systems. The role holder will provide operational support for functions relating to the storage, management and delivery of digital assets to meet the needs of the curriculum.

The role will form part of a larger team providing support across all specialist spaces at MediaCityUK and will report to the Technical Services Manager. This team will have a day to day interface with our Information Technical Services (ITS) Directorate.

This varied role requires a solid understanding of broadcast operations and support. You will be comfortable dealing with issues posed by any part of the production cycle. Equally you will be confident dealing with people with varying degrees of technical understanding.

A desire to keep abreast of current technology, and to have a vision of future University requirements is a must. The successful candidate will be an experienced and driven individual, who is customer focused.

This key support role will inevitably require evening and weekend working, and potentially some heavy lifting.
