Research Fellow in Proteomics
Applications are invited for a 1 year post-doctoral research fellowship within the Centre for Proteomic Research at the University of Southampton. The research position is part of a Unilever funded programme of research investigating the mechanisms underpinning the process of skin sensitisation that lead to allergic contact dermatitis in humans.
The successful candidate will join the laboratory of Dr. Paul Skipp, who has an ongoing programme of research in the area of skin sensitisation from the initiating event of protein modification through to antigen presentation. Working within the Centre for Proteomic Research at Southampton, the ideal candidate will have earned their PhD in the area of Life Sciences and will have a working knowledge of protein and proteomic analysis techniques, cell culture, chromatography and mass spectrometric analysis of samples, using both LC-MS and MS/MS approaches; processing and collation of the resulting MS data. The post will work closely with biologists, immunologists, clinicians and bioinformaticians to better understand the mechanistic pathway leading to skin sensitisation.
The appointment is for 1 year and interviews will take place on Friday 22 September 2017. The University of Southampton offers benefits associated with national insurance and pension payments.
Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon completion of PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
