We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the EPSRC Project ‘Seebibyte: Visual Search for the Era of Big Data’ to work on computer vision applied to healthcare problems. You will hold a joint position working in the Visual Geometry Group and the Biomedical Image Analysis Group at the Department of Engineering Science. The post is available for 2 years in the first instance with the possibility of an extension.

The Seebibyte project has two aims: first, to carry out fundamental computer vision research in order to develop the next generation of computer vision algorithms that are able to analyse, describe and search image and video content with human-like capabilities; and second, to transfer these methods to other disciplines and to industry. There is a particular focus on Deep Learning methods. The particular post will investigate analysis and description of ultrasound video.

You should possess a doctorate, or near completion of doctorate, in computer vision or in computer vision applied to medical imaging. A background and expertise in developing original methods for recognition in images and videos together with good written and oral communication skills are essential. Experience in medical imaging is not essential but an interest in collaborating with clinicians and designing and developing solutions which may have impact on healthcare practice in the future is.

Informal enquiries can be directed to Professor Alison Noble ([email protected]).

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 18 September 2017 can be considered. You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests, CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.

The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.
