We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dynamic Postdoctoral Scientist to join the Genome Stability Research Group led by Professor Matthew Whitby. You will work on a MRC funded project to investigate the molecular mechanisms responsible for restarting collapsed replication forks in eukaryotes. You will use state-of-the-art in vivo biochemistry, advanced microscopy and cutting-edge high-throughput single molecule DNA fibre (HTDF) analysis to deliver a comprehensive description of the factors that influence the processing of a blocked replication fork through its collapse, restart by recombination, and progression as a restarted fork.
Applicants should possess, or expect to obtain soon, a PhD in a relevant subject area, and should have significant laboratory experience in core molecular and cellular biology techniques. You should have a background in chromosome biology/genome stability research, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to work both independently and as part of a team. Experience in fission yeast genetics, live cell imaging, and techniques for analysing replication/recombination intermediates would be advantageous.
This full-time fixed-term post is funded by the MRC for up to 3 years.
