The University of Gloucestershire has an opportunity for a skilled application developer. The University has recently brought together its Library and IT functions to create a Library, Technology and Information Service. A new role has been created, that of the Application Development and Support Manager. This role reflects the focus on application development within the new service and the University is looking for a skilled technology leader who can build on the existing good practice around individual systems, to develop a high-performing team that works coherently to an overall architecture.
The University has a significant change agenda to continually enhance its student experience, as well as ensuring its systems provide support to the smooth and efficient running of the University. The Application Development and Support Manager role is key to LTI providing business benefit to the University. You will be able to understand how to deliver a great user experience as well as being able to balance competing user demands and keeping maintenance activities to a minimum. You will find encouragement to innovate around application delivery, and will be working in an environment keen to explore the boundaries of what is possible.
The role provides an opportunity to build a multi-skilled team, expert in Agile delivery methods. You will take a core of well-established systems and technologies and focus on the system and process integration by defining a clear architecture understandable by senior stakeholders across the University. You will be expected to keep pace with developments in the sector and spot opportunities for the University to extend its service to students.
You will have substantial experience in leading and managing IT-skilled staff, as well as knowledge of and experience in a range of application development methods. A track record in delivering application developments to time is important, as is experience of managing strategic relationships with commercial software developers and providers.
