Detail information about job Research Associate (fixed-term). Terms and conditions vacancy
The successful candidate would be working on project exploring how the sharing of an unconscious emotional state influences the development of a shared identity between two, or more, individuals. The project involves an experimental approach, using new developments with EEG research to explore underlying processes within the formation of social identity. This project is funded by the Leverhulme Trust.
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary group of academics from the Department of Psychology and Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation. The team will be exploring how an individual’s implicit emotional status can be identified through neurophysiological measures, utilising advanced mathematical modelling of EEG waveforms to achieve this. This methodology will then be utilised to measure changes in emotional status in interacting individuals as they form a social identity.
The project touches upon many disciplines and the successful candidate would be using procedures from cognitive neuroscience (i.e. EEG), social psychology (e.g. focus groups) and advanced mathematical modelling. Although experience in such fields is desirable it is not expected that a candidate would have experience in all the fields involved in the project but will have experience in some, work effectively in a team supervisory environment and be proactive in their independent learning of unfamiliar techniques.
This is a full time, fixed term position for up to 9 months with an anticipated start date in January 2018.
