Detail information about job Junior HPC Systems Administrator. Terms and conditions vacancy

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated HPC Systems Administrator to join the Advanced Computing Research Centre as part of the newly-funded GW4 Facility for High Resolution Cryo-EM (Electron Microscopy).

The Advanced Computing Research Centre (ACRC) develops and manages advanced computing solutions for the University of Bristol’s research community. The ACRC has received funding to design and install a new High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster, called BlueCryo. This will support processing of images and data produced by the GW4 Facility for High Resolution Cryo-EM. The BlueCryo HPC system will comprise both a batch processing CPU/GPU cluster and an associated live processing satellite node that will be located with the microscope. This will complement our existing HPC clusters, BlueCrystal Phase3 and BlueCrystal Phase4.

The post holder will be a member of the ACRC, and will work as part of a team of HPC Systems Administrators, Data Specialists and Research Software Engineers to provide HPC Systems Administration support for BlueCryo. The post holder will be supplied with the necessary training, supervision and guidance to conduct tasks such as HPC systems administration and maintenance, installation of research software, and sustainment and development of HPC systems. As such, this is an ideal opportunity as an entry level post that will provide support and training for you to develop your career as an HPC Systems Administrator.

This post is available on a flexible hours part time (17.5 hours per week) basis, with fixed term funding confirmed for 36 months (3 years). More information about the role can be found in the job description. For informal enquiries, please contact either Simon Burbidge ([email protected]) or Caroline Gardiner ([email protected]).

Closing date: 7th September 2017, with interviews held in early October.

The University is committed to creating and sustaining a fully inclusive culture. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and communities.
