Applications are sought for a Tissue Bank Officer to join the Breast Group, Centre for Tumour Biology as part of the Breast Cancer Now Tissue Bank project. The Breast Cancer Now tissue bank is a multi-centre project, which aims to fulfil the sample requirements of breast cancer researchers nationally. The successful applicant will provide comprehensive, efficient and effective tissue acquisition and distribution to deliver an efficient service to internal and external users of the bank. The post will be based in the Centre for Tumour Biology, Barts Cancer Institute, within the Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary, University of London.

Essential requirements for this post include GCSE or equivalent (including English and Mathematics, grade A-C) and previous laboratory experience including tissue handling. Experience in communicating with patients or other lay audience and using databases is desirable. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain accurate and detailed records are also essential.

The post is full time for 9 months. Starting salary will be in the range £21,271 - £26,035 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days’ annual leave defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.

The Barts Cancer Institute requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Description).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
