The University of Bristol’s School of Physics seeks an outstanding candidate for a permanent lectureship in Physics, tenable from 1st January 2018 or a date to be agreed. We seek an outstanding researcher in the area of Applied Physics / Materials Sciences, with particular expertise in Interfaces of Semiconductor and Energy Materials. Nano/Micromechanics is of particular interest. The Lecturer would be expected to be proactive in establishing new research collaborations within the Materials and Devices for Energy and Communications Group of the School of Physics, for example with the Centre for Device Thermography and Reliability (CDTR) and other relevant groups in the School and University, e.g. the Interface Analysis Centre and the Faculty of Engineering.

The lecturer will be expected to develop an internationally leading independent research programme as well as to be an inspirational teacher for undergraduate and postgraduate students in the School of Physics and undertake administrative duties as appropriate for the role.  The post will be held in the School of Physics, specifically the  Materials and Devices for Energy and Communications Group. The appointment will be within Pathway 1, Lecturer profile b (£36,613-£41,212) or exceptionally profile c (£41,212 - £47,722) according to qualifications and experience, and is open-ended, subject to the University's standard probation, progression and promotion procedures.
