We wish to appoint 4 research assistants to work as part of the UK Copernicus Land Monitoring project team on the production of the CORINE UK land cover map 2018, the change map from 2012 to 2018 and the validation of High Resolution Layers (HRLs) for 2015. The project contributes to the obligations by the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (Defra) to report to the European Environment Agency. The team will use Copernicus satellite imagery from the Sentinel programme and additional spatial data sources.
Candidates are expected to hold a good honours degree or equivalent in Geography, Environmental Science or another relevant subject or demonstrate equivalent professional experience, and be familiar with satellite image interpretation, GIS and remote sensing. Team working, time management skills, and good communication skills are important.
