Salary: Grade 8 £39,992 to £47,722 per annum, with potential to progress to £53,691 through sustained exceptional contribution
The Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC) is a cluster of industry-focused manufacturing R&D centres and supporting facilities. The original Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre with Boeing, established in 2001, is a world-leading centre of machining and materials research for aerospace and other high-value sectors. It has over 100 industrial members, from global giants such as Boeing, Airbus, Rolls-Royce, BAE Systems and Messier-Bugatti-Dowty to local small businesses within the local area.
A Technical Fellow is required to lead the area of Milling and Drilling Technology within the Machining Group at the AMRC. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in machining research and technology development. The candidate will have a strong academic background with a PhD or equivalent experience in a research environment.
The role will take overall responsibility for the technical outputs from projects within the milling and drilling research area. This will include the line management of project engineers working on research projects. An important aspect of the role will be to steer the technical direction of the team whilst ensuring current projects are delivered successfully. You will have support for project delivery from a project management team and your portfolio of work for is forecast to exceed £500k pa. You will be responsible for growing the order book in subsequent years and will play a key role in ensuring projects deliver a high technical standard and the AMRC’s international reputation is maintained.
