The School of Politics and International Relations is seeking to appoint an ambitious and highly motivated Lecturer with a research profile in the area of the politics and international relations of Asia-Pacific and/or East Asia. We would especially welcome applications from candidates with expertise in Asia-Pacific East Asian regional security, the politics and international relations of East Asian states and/or the international political economy, diplomacy, human rights, conflict and security in East Asia.
You will be required to contribute to the delivery and development of specialist modules on aspects of the politics and international relations of the Asia Pacific region and/or its nation states at the undergraduate level, with the potential for modules at the postgraduate level.
As Lecturer in Politics and International Relations you will:
- To contribute to the organisation, delivery and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate modules. The post holder will be expected to teach at the undergraduate level and the postgraduate level.
- Undertake research, independently and collaboratively, and provide research support to academic colleagues.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- First degree or equivalent in relevant subject area
- Have (or be completing) a PhD in a relevant discipline
- Experience of high quality research and publication
- Experience of teaching in lectures and seminars
School of Politics and International Relations
Politics was one of the four founding disciplines in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Kent and has always been strong in staff and student numbers. The School currently has particular strengths in Politics, International Relations, Political Thought, European Politics and International Conflict Analysis.This School dates from the foundation of the University in 1965 but has been transformed in recent years by the development of a young, dynamic and growing staff.
Our research profile cuts across traditional divisions in the discipline of Politics, International Relations, European Studies and Area Studies. We have research strengths in British and European politics and the politics and international relations of the EU, Russia, China, Japan, the USA, Latin America, sub-Saharan Africa, and the Middle East.
