Salary: £22,494 to £26,829 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for a Programme Coordinator with the University of Nottingham’s Rights Lab (www.nottingham.ac.uk/world/beacons/rights-lab/).

As part of its ambitious Research Strategy, the University of Nottingham is making a significant investment in its research capacity through six £multi-million cross-disciplinary Beacons of Excellence (Beacons). Beacons represent a critical mass, undertaking a coherent and integrated portfolio of research in a well-defined research area, carrying out challenge-led research with an objective to be demonstrably amongst the best in the world. Beacons pro-actively engage with research ecosystems within and across Faculties. They have clearly identified objectives against which they are required to deliver in order to release funding to enable ongoing delivery.

Semi-attached to the Faculty of Social Sciences, the Rights Lab is home to the world's leading contemporary slavery experts and will deliver the world's first large-scale research platform for ending slavery. The Sustainable Development Goals call for an end to slavery by 2030 and we are designing new research-led antislavery interventions to help achieve this. Our 15 current projects demonstrate the Freedom Dividend: a safer, greener, more prosperous and equal world for everyone when slavery is brought to an end.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Rights Lab Programme Coordinator will support the development of excellent research, impact and funding submissions. The role-holder will deliver high quality administrative management and co-ordination for this large, complex and team-based initiative. Candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, co-ordinating research activities and providing specialist administrative and financial support. The person appointed will have the opportunity to use their initiative and creativity to identify new techniques for effective programme coordination. The role-holder will actively engage and work closely with at least 15 Beacon research projects across all five faculties but in particular the faculties of Arts and Social Sciences, where most Beacon projects are based. The role-holder will report to the Beacon Head of Operations and also work closely with the Beacon Director and the Beacon Research Development Manager. He/she will also be required to work with aligned Faculties and Schools, Professional Service Units, and external collaborators.

This full-time job is available immediately and is offered as a fixed-term post until 31 July 2017, with the potential for continuation until 31 July 2022.

Requests for secondment from internal candidates will be considered on the basis that prior agreement has been sought from both your current line manager and the manager of your substantive post, if you are already undertaking a secondment role.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Zoe Trodd at [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
