Applications are invited for the post of Library Adviser based in the Djanogly Learning Resource Centre and Business Library at Jubilee campus. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive contribution to the service. 

Our vision is a Library that puts students and academics at the heart of everything we do, providing a consistently excellent service aligned to the teaching, learning, and research priorities of the University. Library Advisers form a key part of the frontline delivery of this vision.

You must be confident working with a diverse mix of customers, including students, academic staff, and members of the public, identifying relevant print and digital resources, encouraging best practice, and troubleshooting problems. You will need to be able to learn quickly as our service develops and embrace this dynamic environment.

You will be expected to work independently and will deputise in the absence of the Senior Library Assistant to ensure that services respond to changes in demand and continue to run efficiently.

Candidates must have a proven ability to deliver a friendly, helpful service in a busy environment, meeting a variety of customer demands, identifying needs, and recommending solutions. Confidence working both alone and within a team, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well under pressure is essential. You must have a good standard of education evidenced by A Levels and GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent). Relevant experience working in libraries and/or with students in higher education will be an advantage.

Hours of work are 22.5 hours per week:

  • Business LibraryMon 6pm-10pm (4h)Tues 5.30pm-10pm (4.5h)Wed 5pm-10pm (5h)
  • DLRCThur 1pm – 5.30pm (4.5h)Fri 5.30pm-10pm (4.5h)

You will be required to work on one Bank Holiday or University Closed Day every year. This will be agreed in advance dependent on operational requirements.
