Detail information about job Postdoctoral Scientist – Structural Studies. Terms and conditions vacancy

The MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB) is a world famous institution with a strong track record in training postdoctoral fellows who have gone on to become leading scientists.  We have a post-doctoral scientist position available for a talented and highly motivated individual in the group of Dr. M. Madan Babu. This is a collaborative project with Astra Zeneca and will involve interaction with scientists in AZ research labs in Cambridge and access equipment and expertise.

You will work within a programme aimed at understanding the role of intrinsically disordered protein regions (IDRs) in disease. Specifically, this project will explore the rewiring of transcriptional regulatory and protein interaction networks in castration recurrent prostate cancer (CRPC) that is driven by alternatively spliced variants of androgen receptor. You will work towards uncovering the link between the different splice variants and their ability to differentially recruit co-regulators, differences in transcription profile and tumour phenotype. The project will involve generation of samples of prostate cancer cells, RNAs and proteins for analysis and extensive bioinformatics studies to generate a systems-level model of how splice variants rewire biological networks.

You should have a Ph.D. in a biological subject, with a significant research experience in genome-scale experimental and computational work. Ideally you will have a strong background in molecular biology, biochemistry and laboratory experience (e.g. culture mammalian cells and make protein and RNA samples) and extensive experience in programming and bioinformatics studies and (e.g. sequence analysis, network analysis, NGS data analysis).

The successful applicant will be awarded a two year Career Development Fellowship/MRC Postdoctoral Training Scheme.  The fellowship is a training and development position for a Postdoctoral Scientist who has recently completed their doctoral studies.

Working for the MRC provides a whole host of benefits including a final salary pension scheme, Benenden Healthcare membership and excellent holiday entitlement. You will also have access to employee shopping/travel discounts, on site sport and social facilities, as well as salary sacrifice cycle to work schemes and childcare vouchers.
