Project Detail:

Joining one of the largest University based automotive propulsion research groups in the world, this project is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of methodology for optimisation of complex large-scale systems using performance computing and machine intelligence. You will be responsible for developing methodology that facilitates exploration of the design space using machine supported augmented intelligence. The ultimate aim is a hybridisation of human and machine ‘intelligence’ in order to achieve optimal design of large scale dynamic systems.

You will have access to national scale high performance computing facility and the support of experienced researchers and practitioners in the field.

Entry requirements:

Applicants should have a First Class Honours degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or a related subject.

Experience of multi-scale (or multi-domain) simulation and/or performance computing is desirable though not absolutely necessary.

Candidates should have good communication and team working skills.

Funding information:

The studentship provides a tax free stipend of £17,500 to £21,000 per annum (contingent on experience) for three years, plus tuition fees at the UK/EU rate. International (non EU) students may apply, however the total value of the studentship will be used towards the cost of the International tuition fee in the first instance.
