Following the approval of a capital development programme that exceeds £600 million in the next five years with projects from Edgbaston to Dubai, we are currently seeking to recruit several highly motivated new members of our Estates team Are you interested in an excellent opportunity to join a successful Estates Team at a leading Russell Group University?

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The Post-holder will offer high level support and work closely in collaboration with the Head of Capital Programme / Senior Project Manager in the provision of an effective and efficient project management service which gives value for money and is responsive to user’s needs. The Post-holder will, through the Head of Capital Programme / Senior Project Manager, be responsible for the management and control of Capital Projects, acting as the client's representative in order to ensure compliance with the brief, timescale, budgetary and quality requirements. This will involve leading and directing Design Teams, Contractors, Suppliers, in house departments and Clerks of Works in the successful delivery of Capital Projects.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Experience of working in a Project Management environment • A determination to deliver a Client Focused service • Knowledge of current construction issues, contracts and procurement methods • A detailed understanding of the roles and systems within the Estates Office (usually learned in post). This must include authoritative knowledge of the formal procedures and the various database systems in use • A high level of organisational skills, including good time management and prioritisation and the ability to think methodically
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, to enable the Post-holder to project an efficient image of the Office at all times when dealing on the telephone or face to face, with customers, staff, external Contractors/Consultants or members of the public, often at very senior level or with high public profile • Ability to make and express swift and sensible decisions in the response to enquiries
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and to organise and prioritise his/her day's work • Ability to work on several concurrent projects and to tight time scales with a determination to deliver projects on time to the necessary quality, within budget and to the satisfaction of Users • Extensive experience in the use of computers and a variety of software packages in the production of documentation is essential • Educated to ONC / HNC level or equivalent (working towards degree), building construction being preferred which should include an element of architectural design • Substantial experience in project design and procurement • Experience in the management of budgets would be an advantage • Grade C GCSEs, or equivalent, in English and Mathematics are essential
