Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.

The Institute of Astronomy is seeking an experienced and pro-active administrator for 20 hours per week to be worked mornings, Monday to Friday. Some flexibility over term-time/holiday working may be possible. The role will provide support as one of the two administrators in our Student Office, having particular responsibility for all Undergraduate functions but it will also provide mutual support for Graduate matters. In addition the role will offer support for events/conference organization, general administrative support as needed across the Institute, and will cover Reception as needed.

The successful candidate will be educated to A level standard or equivalent and will need to be proficient in the use of IT with competence in word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email and web packages. A knowledge of or willingness to learn Drupal and also the University's student records system, CamSIS, is essential. Excellent organizational skills as well as written and verbal communication skills will be required together with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team. An ability to demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail will be essential.

Previous experience of undergraduate administration (course handbook preparation, lecture timetables, maintenance of key documentation, updating of website information, dealing with routine enquiries from students) and of examinations administration (assisting with production of examination materials, dealing with coursework, handling scripts, organizing Examiners' meetings) would be highly advantageous.
