Detail information about job Bodleian Business Librarian. Terms and conditions vacancy
This is a re-advertisement, previous applicants need not apply.
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Business Librarian to lead and manage information services in the fields of business, management and finance at the highest level. The Bodleian Business Librarian is a key member of the Saïd Business School and the Bodleian Libraries, and works to ensure that the Sainsbury Library is widely regarded as a leading library among top and emergent business schools. The Librarian is responsible for the provision of online and print resources, the development of innovative, user-focused services and the management of library staff and reading room facilities.
Candidates should have a good undergraduate degree and a postgraduate qualification in librarianship or information science, along with a strong understanding of information and data resources for research, as well as knowledge of copyright and licensing issues for delivering online content for taught-course programmes. The successful candidate will also be experienced in building highly-effective working relationships and will have the knowledge and credibility required to advise the School Dean and senior colleagues on the development of leading-edge information services.
The current incumbent is retiring after 9 years in the role during which time the Library has made significant advancements in: expanding access to research resources; the online dissemination of the School’s research outputs; new approaches to instructional support and a number of improvements to the library study environments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to build upon this work and develop new services to meet current challenges and emerging needs. If you are excited by this opportunity and have the relevant experience, we would love to hear from you.
Due to the nature of this post, the successful candidates will be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check as well as a financial background check. The possession of a criminal record or poor financial background will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
This post is part of a pilot scheme testing a new Supporting Evidence Form in place of the more usual ‘supporting statement’. Please ensure that you carefully read the ‘How to Apply’ section provided in the Job Description, which you can download below along with the required Supporting Evidence form. CVs will not form part of the selection process.
For an informal discussion about the role please contact the Head of the Bodleian Social Sciences Libraries, Louise Clarke: [email protected]. For enquiries on the application process please contact: [email protected].
Only applications received online before 12.00 midday on Wednesday 6 September 2017 can be considered.
