Detail information about job B83380A - Senior Lecturer in Real Estate and Urban Development. Terms and conditions vacancy

Newcastle University’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape is one of the most successful and longest-established schools of its kind in the UK, ranked 4th in the UK on Research Intensity in REF 2014, scored ‘Gold’ in the recent UK TEF exercise and approaching its centenary in 2022. The School has made a strategic decision to invest in the area of Real Estate and Urban Development and in RICS accredited programmes (with accreditation recently achieved). We are looking for someone to lead a small existing team and to extend research and teaching in this aspect of the discipline, which is of increasing strategic importance to Newcastle University. There are opportunities to engage not just with research in the School through the GURU (Global Urban Research Unit) and ARC (Architecture Research Collaborative) groupings, but also with vibrant cross-institutional, inter-disciplinary urban and rural development initiatives. These include the work of CRE (the Centre for Rural Economy) and other research centres focussed on smart cities, digital civics, spatial analytics and modelling, infrastructure and cities, healthy and ageing cities, plus the cross disciplinary Newcastle City Futures initiative.

You will have a substantial individual research profile and will lead Real Estate and Urban Development research, PhD supervision and teaching in the School, making an important contribution to the future expansion of this aspect of our built environment disciplines. You will take the intellectual lead for new Real Estate and Urban Development pathways through the MPlan and two of our Masters programmes: MSc Urban Planning, and MSc Advanced Architectural Design. We therefore welcome applicants who bring established teaching credentials and, ideally, academic leadership experience, alongside their research track record. You will be ambitious for your own career development and also for the prosperity of Real Estate and Urban Development at Newcastle.
