The Finance Division of the University of Leicester School of Business is composed of a diverse group of scholars with international reputations in areas such as corporate finance, financial markets, public finance, financial risk management and other areas. Our research combines mathematics and physics with finance (in the Quantum Decision Theory research centre, and Institute of Finance), and financial theory with philosophy, and includes research on banking performance analysis, algorithmic trading, political economy and the financial crisis, monetary economics, forecasting, behavioural finance, and consumer finance research.

Among other qualities, you will have a sincere understanding of and share the School’s vision. You will be able to demonstrate your commitment to teaching excellence. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills and be able to inspire both staff and students alike.

In addition to being engaged in innovative learning and teaching, you will have an established reputation for research, with a strong record of publications (appropriate to your level of experience) in peer reviewed journals of substantial standing. You will have excellent networking skills which you use to seek out opportunities for collaboration and citizenship, both internally and externally. You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to generate external funding through research grants, contracts or other sources.

Finally, you will have a track record of engaging with a range of communities related to your research and teaching interests, including external organisations.

Informal enquiries are welcome. In the first instance, please email Kerry Whatmore on [email protected], with details of a convenient time and telephone number. The relevant Head of Division will then contact you for a confidential discussion about the role.
