The UCL Department of Geography's ‘Geospatial Analytics and Computing’ group led by Professor Paul Longley are seeking a highly-motivated individual for the role of Research Associate on the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) Urban Dynamics Lab. The appointee will be responsible for working as part of a large multi-disciplinary team within UCL as well as for developing links to the ESRC's Consumer Data Research Centre also based within the Department.

This post is available from the 1st October 2017 until 30th September 2020 in the first instance.

The successful candidate will have a PhD or a Master's degree graded at distinction in a quantitative speciality within a social or information science discipline, or a science discipline with experience in social science applications. They will have excellent knowledge of statistical tools and applying spatial analysis methods as well as being knowledgeable on issues involved when handling spatial data.

It will be necessary for the successful candidate to be eligible for and to apply for Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance to enable them to work in the secure data laboratory.

Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Research Assistant Grade 6B (£29,809 - £31,432 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).
