An opportunity exists for a self-motivated post-doc to be employed by Teesside University, working on a 2-year interdisciplinary project for Glycoselect (UK) Ltd (http://www.glycoselect.com/) at the cutting edge of monoclonal antibody development and purification.
Glycoselect (UK) Ltd is an early stage biotechnology company developing patented, analytical tools for life science products. They specialise in the development of Recombinant Prokaryotic Lectins (RPL’s).
The role will develop a microfluidic analytical tool and a purification column for effective isolation of monoclonal antibodies based on their glycan structures. Opportunity to learn techniques such as AKTA, Forte Bio (Octet), Mas-spectrometry, and sensor fabrication. This is a 2-year Knowledge Transfer Partnership and the successful candidate will be supported half a day per week by the Teesside University academic supervisory team led by Dr M. Safwan Akram and supported by Prof. Meez Islam (Teesside University). Dr Roisin Thompson will provide company led supervision at Glycoselect (UK) Ltd. Both partners are situated within a ½ hour walk/5 minute drive.
Research produced at Teesside University was considered to have strong impact. 100% of the Social Policy, History, and Allied Health submissions, and 90% of the General Engineering submission, was rated as having outstanding or very considerable impact during REF2014.
