Contract Type: Fixed Term (to 30 June 2020 due to external funding)

Do you have the skills and experience to manage a multi-million-pound global health research programme? Do you have the necessary enthusiasm to deliver a programme in new technologies to unmet surgical need in Sierra Leone and rural India?

As programme manager you will oversee day-to-day management of our newly funded NIHR Global Health Research Group (GHRG) in Surgical Technologies. You will be responsible for running the GHRG Office, coordinating activities with academics and stakeholders in the UK and overseas. You will be a member of the Management Team and Steering Committee responsible for delivering the programme of work and will work across the local partner institutes in the School of Medicine and the School of Mechanical Engineering.

GHRG in Surgical Technologies involves complex international research comprising in-country social science and qualitative research, developing and evaluating surgical interventions, and dissemination and impact activities, with a budget of £2 million over 3 years that you will be responsible for allocating, managing and monitoring. With experience in managing a substantial portfolio of research in developing countries, you will be required to provide leadership, in collaboration with the Directors, for all operational and non-scientific aspects of the project.
