The Department of Political Science at UCL wishes to recruit a Q-Step Centre Careers Officer to assist with the development and support of the Centre’s careers and internship programmes across the five degree programmes. The aim of the Centre is to achieve a step-change in quantitative literacy in social science, by providing advanced training in data science and quantitative research methods for undergraduates in the social sciences.

Main duties of the post include assisting with the development, management and delivery of a range of careers activities and events appropriate to the aim of the UCL Q-Step Centre, developing and managing the Centre’s website with regard to advertising internship placements, applications and student information, arranging meetings of the relevant stakeholders, (various student groups and staff members across a number of departments) attend these, take notes and follow up any actions required.

The post is funded from 1st November 2017 to 30th September 2019 in the first instance.

Applicants must be educated to a minimum of A level standard or equivalent including GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above. It is essential to have an understanding of the University structure, in particular undergraduate studies, excellent communication skills such as the ability to present information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing and relevant experience in a similar or related role.

Knowledge of the University’s various systems, e.g. Moodle and Event management or administration would be desirable.
