Detail information about job Research Data Collectors (x3) (0.5FTE). Terms and conditions vacancy
The Directorate of Nursing, Midwifery, Social Sciences & Social Work (School of Health and Society as of 1st September 2017) aims for excellence in both teaching and research. Academic staff have a role that integrates these two disciplines and delivers research informed teaching and practice.
The Midwifery research group works across disciplines but is most closely associated with the Knowledge, Health and Place Research group of the School.
The Midwifery Neonatal Specialist team have recently won a substantial commercial contract to undertake a maternal observational study into infant skin integrity in the nappy/diaper area from birth to eight weeks of age. To help us with this project, we wish to recruit three Research Data Collectors with excellent communication skills and a keen interest in midwifery research.
The role, while based at the University, will involve mainly working within community settings, working with the wider team to identify, screen, and recruit participants for the trial and obtain informed consent after 36 weeks gestation. Recruitment will be ongoing over the first 15 months of the study as the target recruitment is 600 mother and infant pairs. The Research Data Collectors will be responsible for a participant group of approximately 150-200 women during the course of the project. During any 8 week period each Research Data Collector will be responsible for 20-25 women. They will also assist the Research Fellow in monitoring the data collection and extracting data obtained by means of an electronic diary tool (EDT) in preparation for analysis by the Project Statistician. In addition the Research Data Collectors will conduct exit interviews or surveys with participants when they complete the trial, or leave the trial before completion. The successful candidate will work closely with the Research Fellow who will oversee and direct their work activities.
Please note this vacancy will close on the date specified at 11.59pm. This is a part time role and the salary will be calculated on a pro rata basis based on an 18.12 hour working week. The role is fixed-term for 18 months.
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and are working to redress the gender balance in Science, Technology, Engineering & Medicine.
