We are looking for an Animal Technician, with surgery experience, to join our friendly, hardworking team and be actively involved in the daily care and maintenance of animals within our modern biofacility.

The job duties will involve general husbandry, looking after welfare requirements, record keeping, checking and recording environmental parameters, health monitoring, general hygiene and cleaning. Additional duties include assisting with the coordination of the surgery resource for the biofacility; set up and clean-up of the surgical facilities, ordering of surgery specific consumables, non-sterile assistance during surgeries and supporting users with aseptic technique during surgery.

Ideally you will hold an Institute of Animal Technology Level 2 or equivalent qualification, or at least GCSE (A-C) in English, Maths and a Science subject (ideally Biology), or equivalent. It is also desirable that the successful candidate hold a Home Office personal license with Home Office Categories A - C.

You should be positive, reliable and able to interact with team colleagues and research staff. Experience in a technical/laboratory setting, with specific experience working with rodents and completing regulated procedures would also be desirable.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a security check and a health assessment.
