Are you a confident leader, with experience of international relationship management? The Chevening Scholarships Secretariat are seeking a Programme Manager -International to join our dynamic leadership team, and ensure an excellent standard of service delivery to UK Embassies and High Commissions (Posts) in the recruitment, selection and support of Chevening scholars and fellows across approximately 160 countries.

Chevening is the global scholarship programme of the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). Established in 1983, each year Chevening scholarships support Master’s-level study at UK universities for about 1700 individuals, who come to the UK from most regions of the world (excluding the United States of America and the European Union). It brings established and emerging leaders to the UK for transformational educational experiences of up to one year. Now in its 34th year, the scheme continues to grow, extending to new territories and developing innovative models of engagement.

Funded by the FCO as part of its Strategic Partnerships, Public Diplomacy and Soft Power activity, the programme is administered by the Chevening Secretariat, hosted by the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

In this role you will be the main point of liaison between the Chevening Secretariat and the FCO at an international level, overseeing the team that manages the applications and selection process, and contributing to marketing and alumni engagement strategies as required. You will support the wider Secretariat in developing strategies and implementing operational procedures that optimize service delivery and will work with other team leaders to ensure the efficient administration of the programme.

Some of the skills you need to be able to demonstrate include:

• Experience of managing and developing staff, and setting objectives for a team
• Strong relationship management skills, and the ability to interact with stakeholders at a senior level
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to adapt messages for different audiences and sensitivity to different cultural contexts
• Experience of strategic planning to achieve results and monitor procedures to ensure a high standard of delivery
• Knowledge and understanding of managing budgets
• Ability to balance competing priorities and manage time effectively to deliver high quality work
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team to deliver results.

As Programme Manager - International, you will be employed by ACU Trading Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary. You will be based at the Chevening Secretariat, in Woburn House, but will be expected to attend regular meetings and events at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and other locations as required.
