Detail information about job Research Associate. Terms and conditions vacancy

The School of Architecture is one of the best in the UK, with the REF 2014 confirming our position as a world-class centre for architectural research. In a joint submission with our colleagues in the Department of Landscape and the Department of Town and Regional Planning, we are proud to have achieved 4th place overall by subject. The School has a strong reputation for excellence and innovation in teaching (joint first for undergraduate teaching in the UK National Student Survey 2016), the Architect’s Journal Top 100 Survey rates us as one of the best UK Schools outside London, and we are the only School consistently within the top five as ranked across all the main UK league tables. The School is an especially dynamic, diverse and international department with a lively and engaged student body and a large graduate school. Live projects, working with real clients in the community, are an important aspect of what we do. It is for this reason that we enjoy a reputation for being perhaps the most socially and politically engaged school of architecture in the UK.

We have an exciting opportunity to support the ESRC-funded ODESSA project (Optimising care delivery models to support ageing-in-place: towards autonomy, affordability and financial sustainability), and to undertake research on ageing-in-place and smart home technologies for older people. You will be a PhD holder in Architecture, with demonstrable evidence of research and interest in person-environment fit. You will have a good international reputation in research, with demonstrable high impact areas evidenced in leading peer-reviewed journals and extant literature. You will join a well-connected team with world-leading reputations in ageing research. You will work closely with the ODESSA team to analyse fieldwork data, organise focus groups and a final conference. You will play a key role in maintaining ongoing collaboration with our co-investigators in China and France.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
