Detail information about job Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering. Terms and conditions vacancy

This post is available at Lecturer/Senior Lecturer Level/Grade 8 - 9 on the salary scale; £33,518 to £47,722 per annum with USS benefits

Swansea University’s Top 10 UK ranked College of Engineering is seeking to appoint a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to the Zienkiewicz Centre for Computational Engineering with responsibility for developing research and teaching activities with the College’s wind tunnel facilities.

The College welcomes applications from highly talented early career academics with a developing portfolio of research excellence. Applicants must have the potential to play a significant role in the future development of the discipline.

The post also requires high quality delivery of teaching and student learning, graduate supervision and a commitment to enhancing the overall student experience.

The appointee will be a member of the Aerospace Research Group within the Zienkiewicz Centre for Computational Engineering (http://www.swansea.ac.uk/engineering/zcce/)

For this position, the College is seeking someone with a strong research track record in experimental aerodynamics with specific experience in operating large scale wind tunnel facilities and undertaking experimental aerodynamics research (either in an academic or industrial context). The applicant would also ideally have experience of working with Particle Induced Velocimetry (PIV) systems.  The College is willing to consider applications from applicants with an industrial, rather than academic, background.

The successful applicant will be expected to manage the College’s wind tunnel facilities which includes a large, closed loop subsonic research wind tunnel equipped with Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) systems. The applicant will be expected to develop their own experimental aerodynamics research programme whilst embedding use of the wind tunnel facilities within ongoing research and teaching in the College.  The successful applicant will be responsible for the ongoing procurement of experimental facilities to expand the College’s capabilities in the field of experimental aerodynamics and take responsibility, in collaboration with technical support, for the ongoing maintenance of the facilities.

Applicants should be in a position to teach any of the cognate subjects within Engineering undergraduate curriculum, and may contribute to teaching in Medical, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.

Applicants must have a first degree in a relevant branch of engineering discipline or a quantitative science discipline and a research degree in a topic related to biomedical engineering.

Desirable qualifications include experience in working within or in collaboration with the aerospace sector; applying for RCUK funding; relevant teaching experience.

The College of Engineering at Swansea University has undergone a very significant period of transformative growth and development over the past five years which has included doubling student numbers while increasing quality, raising our international research profile and moving to a brand new purpose built campus in 2015.

Closing date 11pm, 24th September 2017
