The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.
We are seeking a proactive Public Engagement Officer to support the implementation of a Horizon 2020 Science with and for Society grant and to support core engagement activities at the Institute.
The ORION (Open Responsible research and Innovation to further Outstanding kNowledge) project will focus on exploring and embedding Responsible Research and Innovation principles (ethics, gender, governance, open access, public engagement and science education). The project will take engagement of the public beyond the ‘traditional’ mechanisms, involving them throughout the entire research pipeline, from funding calls to policy development.
The Public Engagement Officer will be responsible for supporting the ORION project through organisation of workshops, development of ‘co-creation’ experiments and supporting core Institute public engagement activities such as science festival exhibitions and community engagement.
The successful applicant will have a degree in a biological or life sciences subject, experience of facilitating public engagement activities and the ability to communicate with a broad range of stakeholders including researchers, funders and public groups.
This position is a Maternity cover position and available for up to 1 year.
