There is a new vacancy for a postdoctoral Research Fellow at the European Social Survey Headquarters housed at City, University of London. Working closely with the existing team the post holder will work on a range of methodological and substantive research questions. The ESS is the largest academic comparative general social survey in Europe, covering up to 30 nations (see www.europeansocialsurvey.org) and is known for its high methodological standards.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be involved with a range of areas at ESS HQ. They will support the Director Professor Rory Fitzgerald and his team in publishing research on Survey Methodology as well as conducting basic substantive analysis. They will also summarise publications using the ESS for nonacademic audiences to help raise the profile of its data and findings. In addition they will contribute to areas of the core ESS ERIC workprogramme and related H2020 grants. There are also likely to be opportunities to contribute to proposal writing.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will have a PhD in a quantitative social science discipline, ideally with a strong survey methodology component. They will also have an interest in survey methodology and some experience of survey research. They should be able to demonstrate the potential to produce publications in survey methodology and will ideally already have some published peer reviewed articles. The ability to analyse survey data with complex data structures is also required. The ability to work as part of a highly integrated team is essential.
