Detail information about job Administrator. Terms and conditions vacancy

The Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute (CI), a department of the University of Cambridge, aims to link the laboratory to the clinic carrying out cancer research of direct relevance to patients. We aim to save more lives by preventing, controlling and curing cancer. Our science holds the solution. We are looking for a proactive Administrator for our Biological Resource Unit to design and maintain administrative systems to help us bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.

The role of the Unit is to provide a state of the art small animal research facility to our cancer researchers as they investigate the basic physiological processes and mechanisms underlying cancer.  Research at the Institute involving mice takes place where there is no alternative to accurately model these mechanisms and is carried out to high welfare standards in accordance with stringent regulation and our own internal values.

To support the smooth running of the facility we are seeking an Administrator to develop and carry out essential administrative tasks surrounding UK Regulatory compliance. The role includes, interrogating databases and retrieving records to produce regular reports for management and other external departments, ensuring that data inputting is up to date and accurate; meeting organisation; financial processing and recruitment administration.

You will have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge of a variety of efficient office systems. You will be a highly organised, pro-active individual with a positive, professional manner and a keen eye for detail. You will demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to deal tactfully and confidently with people at all levels. You will be an effective team player but you will also demonstrate the ability to work individually with minimal supervision. Previous experience of working in an academic or scientific environment would be highly advantageous. A high regard for animal welfare is essential.

In return we offer a competitive package and the opportunity to work in a stimulating environment supporting cancer research.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a basic disclosure (criminal records check) check, a health assessment and a security check.
