To deliver its top 20 ambition Swansea University is seeking to appoint a Research officer with excellence in research in the Department of Physics within the College of Science.
Main Purpose of the Post
- To undertake research at the Antiproton Decelerator (AD) facility at CERN with both the Swansea team and the ALPHA collaboration on preparing the next generation of antihydrogen experiments. This will involve work on laser systems and associated instrumentation as well as mechanical and electronic design of traps and related structures which are used to hold and manipulate the neutral and charged particles.
- To participate fully in the ALPHA experiment during antiproton beamtime at the AD and in particular to take responsibility for the characterisation of fluctuations in laser frequency and magnetic field during precision measurements.
- To liaise effectively with all colleagues working in the Antihydrogen group, both at Swansea and CERN.
