Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. Recently we marked the 125th anniversary of our foundation as an institution dedicated to supporting science, industry and the professions with a distinctive interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary approach to teaching, research and knowledge exchange.

The School of Social and Health Sciences delivers programmes and applied research in the areas of nursing and counselling, psychology, sociology, and sport and exercise which has grown significantly in recent years. The School is now further developing their provision and is establishing a Centre of Excellence in Mental Health Nursing and the Dundee Academy of Sport.

The University now seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Nursing within the School of Social and Health Sciences, commencing autumn 2017. While the focus of our work is mental health nursing, we welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates from other fields of nursing practice.

Reporting to the Head of Division and working closely with our Professor of Mental Health Nursing, you will be supported to develop skills and expertise in teaching and research. You will be expected to complete the University’s Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice. You will have the opportunity to design, lead and assess modules and will play an important part in curriculum development and review. All new staff are assigned an academic mentor and Abertay offers an active programme of staff development.

The role requires you to work both independently and as part of a team. You will need good interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and have an ability to take initiative.

A full candidate brief can be found below which details the job description, person specification and application details.
