A Student Engagement and Education Development Intern is required in the College of Humanities, at the University of Exeter. This role is to further engage and involve current students with the academic community, and support the delivery of the Education Strategy. This paid internship is available for 11 months.

Main duties and responsibilities will include inducting SSLC student representatives to ensure they understand their roles, support the SSLC for Postgraduate Taught students; including encouraging students to engage with representation and act as the main point of liaison and contact for SSLC Subject Chairs. The appointee will also work closely with students and staff at the Penryn Campus in Cornwall, to encourage student engagement activity, as well as promote student engagement with the National Student Survey, Guild Teaching Awards and student elections. This post will actively encourage students to develop and deliver Change Agents Projects, as well as support current students to effectively manage projects. The appointee will also play an active role as a member of the University’s Student Engagement network, including attending meetings, as well as supporting the Associate Dean of Education in implementing and communicating the Education Strategy and offering administrative support for Education Strategy Group. The appointee will also have the opportunity to coordinate the recruitment process for the College’s ‘Research Support Interns’ – an initiative that enables current students to undertake paid work. The post will also be involved in supporting research projects, writing short targeted reports and following up on new initiatives as well as analysing targeted data using both internal and external sources.

We are looking for a highly organised graduate, with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to correspond in a friendly and professional manner with staff at all levels. The ideal candidate will have the ability to pay excellent attention to detail and keep accurate records, manage a varied workload and work on more than one project simultaneously, prioritising work effectively in the face of conflicting demands and tight deadlines. The successful candidate will also have a keen interest in the student experience, have a demonstrable ability to use their own initiative in the workplace and have experience of team work and collaboration. Applicants should also be competent users of Microsoft software packages including Word, Excel and Outlook, and having an understanding of the needs and interests of Humanities students would be advantageous.
