The Sports Office is looking to appoint a Gym Shift Supervisor on a permanent basis to work alongside colleagues to ensure shift supervision of the 200 station Russell Seal Fitness Centre and associated smaller gyms within the Sports Park
This is a full-time position working on a four week rolling shift pattern to ensure supervisory cover of the gyms and staff operating these facilities throughout their opening hours, which will range from 7am to 10.15pm and some weekend working.
The Russell Seal Fitness Centre is the University of Exeter’s flag-ship gym with 200 stations of gym equipment and large class programme. At peak times the gym will attract 10,000 visits per week made up predominantly with student members who will have a diverse range of fitness and wellness aims and aspirations
Your priority will be to proactively supervise the RSFC on a rota basis to ensure during this period the staff on duty are following policies and procedures already in place to ensure a high level of customer experience through interaction, cleanliness and health and safety. Duties will also include, line management of gym staff on duty and class co-ordinator, policy updating, generating ideas on developing services to gym users, working on improvement plans based on customer feedback and delivering some sessions.
During term-time the RSFC is a fast-paced, busy and pressured environment. We are looking for someone who can excel in these circumstances, who is exceptionally well organised, has an eye for detail and knows what ‘excellence’ looks like. As well as someone who recognises that the experience of the customer is the most critical element of the role and can manage, motivate and enthuse staff to follow this example.
