Contract Type: The post is fixed-term until 30September 2018.20 hours per week.

Summary:

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering is looking for a highly qualified researcher to undertake research into the fifth generation (5G) of wireless communications systems. This is a joint research project with the Universities of Bristol and Edinburgh and will also involve liaising with several industrial sponsors of the project. The researchers will evaluate promising technologies for 5G systems, including the use of heterogeneous and dense small cell deployments to target capacity at areas where it is most needed. The project will also study new radio resource management policies and protocols to make the best use of new radio bands, including millimetre wave spectrum.

Applicants should have a M.Sc. in Electronic and Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience). Applicants should have strong backgrounds in wireless communications theory and cellular mobile radio systems, and have experience of using numerical simulation tools for the modelling and simulation of wireless communications networks. Applicants should have an appropriate track record of innovation and project ability in wireless communication systems.
