Detail information about job Stipendiary Lecturership in Biological Sciences. Terms and conditions vacancy
Keble College invites applications for a Stipendiary Lecturership in Biological Sciences for one year with effect from 2 October 2017. This is a part-time fixed-term appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to act as Director of Studies for Biological Sciences during Michaelmas term only and provide four hours of tutorial teaching per week (averaged over the three terms) for undergraduates in Biological Sciences. Preference will be given to applicants who can provide teaching in one or more of the following areas: ecology, evolutionary biology, disease/epidemiology or animal behaviour.
In addition, the person appointed will be required to set and mark college examinations in Biological Sciences, submit progress reports on undergraduates they have taught at the end of each term, organise undergraduate admissions, assist with the pastoral care of undergraduates reading Biological Sciences and, in Michaelmas term only, act as college graduate adviser to a small number of graduates in Zoology and/or Plant Sciences.
The appointment will be made on the Stipendiary Lecturers’ annual salary scale for five hours of teaching (taking some account of the additional administrative duties), from £10,855 - £12,209 p.a. (2016-17 rates, subject to annual uplift) depending on experience. The successful candidate will be entitled to five free meals (lunch or dinner) per week when the college kitchens are open, and the use of a computer and a shared teaching room.
Letters of application should include a statement of the candidate’s research interests and teaching experience, as well as an academic curriculum vitae and the names of two referees. Letters of application and references should reach the Student Administration Manager, Ms Penny Bateman, at [email protected], by 12.00 noon on 7 September 2017. Candidates should also ask their referees to write to the Senior Tutor, c/o Ms Bateman at the same address and by the closing date.
Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates who are under-represented in academic posts in Oxford.
