Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Biosecurity for the Global Seaweed Industry. Terms and conditions vacancy
Fixed Term Appointment for 48 months
We are seeking a highly-motivated postdoctoral researcher to support the delivery of an exciting new international, high profile, four-year, large scale programme funded by the RCUK Global Challenges Research Fund. This project aims to support economic growth, food security and well-being of coastal communities in developing countries involved in seaweed aquaculture, primarily Tanzania, Indonesia and the Philippines. The programme has four key research components, including disease and pest detection, biosecurity and management, breeding resistance and community empowerment and a strong focus on capacity building.
The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in conducting fundamental and applied collaborative research on the biosecurity and management of seaweed aquaculture in developing countries and in the training of early career researchers from each of our developing partner countries. This role will also involve travel abroad and extensive overseas fieldwork campaigns.
It is not essential to demonstrate experience in all areas initially, but the ideal candidate must show genuine enthusiasm and ability to expand their boundaries. You will also need to have excellent communication skills across all levels of stakeholders with demonstrable presentation skills.
