Overview of Role
The Department of Plant Sciences seek to employ a Research Technician to work on an exciting new BBSRC funded GCRF Foundation Award project ‘Genetic improvement of rice seed vigour for dry direct-seeded conditions’. The post-holder will be responsible for phenotyping by imaging of rice seedlings. They will work closely with the post-doctoral researcher already in place and assist them in implementing a rice seedling imaging platform, acquisition and semi-automated analyses of images, extraction and curation of data.
The post-holder will have a degree in biological/computational sciences or a related discipline and experience in phenotyping and image analyses. Experience in basic molecular techniques is desirable. The successful candidate is expected to be an active participant in the research group and to coordinate with the external project partners, so a record of successful time and project management is essential.
Interviews are likely to be held during the last week in September 2017. The post is available from 9 October 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter on a full-time basis for a fixed term until April 2019. Salary in the range of £24,225 - £26,573 per annum.
