Detail information about job International Research Funding Officer. Terms and conditions vacancy

As the UK’s national body for the humanities and social sciences, the British Academy champions the study of peoples, cultures and societies – past, present and future. Bringing independence, authority and objectivity to complex issues, we contribute significantly to public policy, skills, education and research and help to shape both society and the economy.

Working closely with Fellows, Officers and Committees of the Academy the successful candidate will support the monitoring and reporting of the Academy’s research funding opportunities, as well as in the decision-making processes for the delivery of funding schemes and awards, including organising and managing selection meetings.

The role will require the candidate to implement and deliver to a high standard, funding opportunities for the research community, including: pre and post award management; planning and budgeting; advising applicants, award-holders and assessors; monitoring and reporting on award outcomes; producing statistics and summary reports; and maintaining effective information databases.

The post-holder can expect a very high profile and a steep learning curve, so we will expect them to be of graduate calibre and experienced in grant administration and research. Ideally the successful applicant will bring a humanities or social science background and will be well versed in the higher education system, very organised and methodical in their approach, and comfortable dealing with changing priorities. Finally, it goes without saying that they will be extremely flexible, happy to travel both nationally and internationally – and ready to make their mark from the first day.

The Academy offers 34 days of annual holiday, excellent benefits (including a defined benefit pension scheme) and one of the best locations in London.
