Detail information about job ITSM System Developer. Terms and conditions vacancy

This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Systems Developer with a passion for IT Service Management System support to join our Service Desk team within the University of Bath's Department of Computing Services to help deliver services that support the University’s research, teaching and professional services.

Your role will be responsible for the, administration, development and maintenance of the University’s Service Management system, TOPdesk, under the management of the Service Manager (Service Desk) and with guidance from a User Group.

Following appropriate project management methodologies, you will develop the system to enhance and extend our Service Management capability, planning for future development possibilities whilst fulfilling an immediate and defined need. The system, hosted on SaaS, uses data from existing University systems to produce a user-focused, intuitive experience.

You will maintain an in-depth knowledge of IT Service Management Software, development paths, best practice and project management techniques, contributing to the University’s strategies and standards.

You will be expected to ensure systems change management is carried out in accordance with defined procedures. You will manage test environments to allow system improvements to be made with minimum impact on services, ensuring system security, sustainability and documentation is maintained.

You will provide a suite of customer driven metrics and use management information to inform and drive further system improvement.

You will be expected to contribute to discussions about improving methods of working, to follow those methods once agreed and to document and maintain those methods so they become knowledge for staff across Computing Services.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improve customer experience and continual service improvement, we are implementing policies and procedures based on the ITIL framework. Knowledge and experience of working in such a framework would be advantageous as would experience of ITSM systems in particular TOPdesk.
